Watches worth watching Vintage：ROLEX GMT-MASTER

As time goes on, the value of the vintage watches become higher. Today, we are going to introduce Vintage Rolex GMT. All of the watches in the picture are vintages.
We chose couple of vintage watches from our shop. As you see, every single one looks so vintage.
There is a difference in the color of the luminous paint and the burning of the dial by the watch.
GMT MASTER has a model number of Ref. 1675. Due to the long manufacturing period, there are several types of them.
A watch in high originality is worth more than 5 million yen.
Because the price depends on the added value which is given by the degree of rareness and the condition.
Depending on the manufacturing year, there is a difference in the luster of dials and the thickness of hands.
The sunburn and the aging changes of the dial and bezel are different due to the use environment.
The individuality created by these environment and condition and become an added value, just like an artwork.
The watch in this picture was originally made with a black dial. But it discolored into brown, because during the certain period of manufacturing process, the luminous paint has been changed.
It became tropical brown, not intentionally, but accidentally.
This watch with brown bezel which worth 40.5 million yen, was also discolored. It was burned beautifully, and also discolored into brown with a good coincidence.
Those with marking on the outer edge of the dial are called “Circle Mirror”. It is the oldest type of dial.
Even the same Pepsi bezels has various discoloration due to aging change.
As Ref.1675, it has 10 different types of dial even with the same model number.
Luminous paint which was used for hands and dial must be originally white, but it has changed into the calm ivory due to the aging.
The initial matt dial that was switched to a matte is one of the most well-known timepieces.
The initial matt dial is one of the highly evaluated watches.
And this is the watch called “Long E”.
The bar in the middle of the letter “E” has the same length as the upper and lower bars.
This difference is highly evaluated, because after the “Long E”of the initial matt, it is still same character until now.
Comparison with “Long E”: The left dial is “Long E” and the right one is the dial after “Long E”.
The difference in the details can be realized by comparing the watch in front of you.

“Overhaul”
As we all know, it is very difficult and rare to maintain the initial originality and the good condition at the same time, especially after it has passed for many decades.
Most of the watches can be changed and damaged as time passed by.
If you send it for service at ROLEX, the discoloration of the dial and hands may regard as a damage and possibly be replaced.
In order to use the watch for a long time, we recommend you to get service regularly.
If you use the watch carefully, it may need less replacement of parts. You will be able to maintain the good condition of the watch and its value as a vintage.
Nevertheless, it will come when it is necessary to repair the watch.
Sometimes we just have to compromise.
For example, the luminous paint on the hands fall off.
In this case, you can repair the hands, replace the hands, or leave it as it is.
For the vintages, if the original parts have been replaced, it will lose its originality and the value as a vintage.
It is better be consult with a repair shop who has enough knowledge of vintages.
